Country Music’s All-Time Biggest Hit Singer To Appear On Local Radio Station

50’s and 60’s hit-maker Leroy Van Dyke is set to be a guest on WWCH Radio’s Saturday Morning Classic Country Show on February 1st. Van Dyke is the singer of the country and pop crossover smash Walk On By, which spent 19 weeks at #1 on the Billboard country chart in 1961 and 1962. The song was named the top country song of all time by Billboard Magazine in 1994 because of its chart longevity, record sales, and radio airplay.
Wayne Brosius, who hosts the weekly show on the Clarion country radio station, said “Leroy Van Dyke is a super singer and auctioneer and it’s an honor to have him on the station here in Clarion County. He’s now 84 years old, but still performs regularly, many times with other classic country singers like Jim Ed Brown, Moe Bandy, the Gatlins, and Gene Watson.”
Van Dyke’s other classic hits include “The Auctioneer,” a song that launched him to stardom in 1956. You’ll hear that song and others from Van Dyke on the Saturday Morning Classic Country Show on February 1st starting at about 8:30 a.m. on WWCH, which is at 1300 on your AM radio.
Brosius has interviewed other big stars on the show in the past few years such as George Jones, Naomi Judd, Gary Morris, Cal Smith, Billy Crash Craddock, and Jeannie Seely, a Grand Ole Opry legend who was born near Titusville, PA.
